News

This is the news {BONG!}:-

<04/08/2005:- . . . . . . . . . . The new Tbilissi release will be a single by new signings Wintergreen.  Now it's a little hard to explain you see, but they didn't want to put out a double a-side (despite the fact that each side would be equal) so they've put out an al/cm-side.  No, we don't know what it means either but they wanted it like that.  If you could see me now I'd be shrugging my shoulders.  Anyway, it has the tracks "Clockwork Mice" and "Autumn Leaves" (both of which are splendid recordings) and they are definitely equal in status.  Though Clockwork Mice is poppier.  It should be in your favourite stores from Monday 22nd August.
Further to that perplexing message, Miss Pain have announced another gig.  It's not clear if it's they are emerging from their medical facilities fully recovered from the vital regenerative surgery performed on them in a very expensive Swiss clinic or whether they've just bartered some time off for good behaviour but they will be manhandled onto a stage towards the end of August.  Details here.  And I must say they are playing with the truly delectable Pipettes, who are absolutely fantastic.  If only we'd signed them <sigh>. . . >

<09/07/2005:- . . . . . . . . . . Tbilissi have made a new signing.  Those young upstarts Wintergreen have decided to put pen to paper and we've typed a exploitative contract on top of it.  So they belong to us now.  Nothing they can do about it.  So we'll be releasing something by them, probably on a shiny black 7", within the next few months.  Check back here for more updates as and when they occur.  Hopefully not too far away.
More importantly those continental wonders Vermont have taken to this gig lark like ducks to proverbial water, so they've arranged four more gigs at the end of July/beginning of August.  They are all on the continent so have a look here for details. . . >

<13/06/2005:- . . . . . . . . . . Some gigs to tell you all about.  The delightful Miss Pain will be enthralling people at three gigs in the not-to-distant future.  They start on Saturday 18th June at The Freebutt in Brighton, proceed directly to Club Hemisphere at the Underbelly Club in Hoxton on Friday 1st July (you can play spot the Nathan Barley if you want), and finish off back in Brighton (at The Engine Rooms) on the following Friday 8th July.  These will be the last celebrations of Pain for a while as they all need to fly to Switzerland to get their blood changed.  The rock 'n' roll lifestyle takes it toll y'know.
Not to be outdone the ever-marvellous Vermont are stretching their gig legs again, as they will be appearing at this year's BRN in Dresden on Friday 17th June.  The fun takes place at Katie's Garage and will unfortunately be the last fling of the marvellous Poppiloten (from last-track-of-Ins-Kino fame).  Be there to see the presentation of the ceremonial eighteen-carat-gold carriage clock for service to indie-pop.  Ho ho!  More details where you'd least expect them. . . >

<18/04/2005:- . . . . . . . . . . The second single from those Miss Pain types is released today.  "Heartbreaker/Caught My Eye" is out on 7" vinyl and is available from all good record outlets, at Miss Pain gigs and of course from our mail order page.  Stay tuned to your sets for details of the next Tbilissi release. . . >

<04/04/2005:- . . . . . . . . . . As those fabulous Miss Pain types have done so well at playing gigs and provoking those NME types we've decided to let them inflict another dose of electro-filth on you good people.  So we are releasing their second single "Heartbreaker/Caught My Eye" on Monday 18th April.  It'll be available as a gorgeous piece of thick 7" vinyl from all good record shops and some bad ones too we imagine.  If you'd prefer to give your hard-won cash to us directly we will be updating the discography and mail order pages as soon as we get a spare moment from cleaning the juices from the master tapes.
In other Tbilissi news, the long-absent Vermont return to this sceptered isle for a pair of live dates.  Firstly they pop up at The Windmill in Brixton on Thursday 7th April playing the inaugural night of How Does It Feel To Be Loved's excursion into the live band area.  Then they saunter down to Brighton on Friday 8th to play The Freebutt with their fellow Tbilissians Miss Pain.  More details of that incestuous line-up here. . . >

<15/02/2005:- . . . . . . . . . . Miss Pain have asked me to remind all of you Pain-ettes that they have two gigs coming up in the near future, one in Winchester and one in their home town of Brighton.  In response to this affront to their musical productivity Vermont have announced a gig in retaliation, although it is in Germany.  They will be playing in Dresden with Kimya Dawson and the ever-lovely Schwervon!.  So look here for more of that information which you crave.
As an aside, another couple of mp3s of Vermont are available to download from Vermont's second album Ten Random.  Just go to the discography page, and click on the tracks. . . >

<04/01/2005:- . . . . . . . . . . Some more Miss Pain news for you giddy pop fans.  In response to the recently released E.B.F.H./Campari & Sex single the NME has said that the aforementioned Painsters are "mentally ill" and that they "wet the bed".  We could not have begged, pleaded or bribed them for a better review.  So thank you very much to the lovely folk at the New Musical Express.
Due to the effusive replies from the good ladies and gentlemen of the press Miss Pain have decided to go on a little jaunt around the country.  Five live dates are already confirmed and more may follow.  Keep an eye on them here. . . >
